This week owner of Creativiti_Custom Designs and Events, Ticina Williams, is taking over the Epic Air blog to share with us the key tips of transforming your party space.
Hi! I'm Ticina, the owner of Creativiti_Custom Designs & Events. My company designs custom party decor and favors for styling events. This July, my nephew Tahj celebrated his 3rd birthday at his favorite place to play! All of guests had tons of fun playing dodgeball, basketball and jumping on the trampoline! My job was to transform our party area into a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Party Zone, and to create awesome party favors for our guests. Here's how I created the look, and a few tips on how you can host a custom bash of your own!
Check Out The Party Space
Before brainstorming my design, I like to do some research. Normally my first stop is the company website to get a visual of the party space, and to get details on what is included in the party package. I also look for decor restrictions and other rules. I don't live close enough to Epic Air Zone to tour the facility, so I went to the website. The company website does an excellent job of showing exactly how the party area looks. I was able to see how the length of the tables, and even examples of how previous guests celebrated! Knowing what my space looked like was very helpful for making my décor decisions.
Use Easy Decor
Avoid complicated decor, since most party spaces only reserve tables for a few hours. Ideal decor should be lightweight and easy to set up. Wall decor may be prohibited, so plan to use mostly table decorations. Confetti and other hard to clean materials should also be avoided.Themed balloons and character cutouts are simple ways to transform the party space. For Tahj's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party, I used character cutouts to set a party scene and to fill in gaps on the table.Once our event was over, I was able to save those cutouts for future use.
Displaying party favors and themed desserts are also creative ways to showcase the celebration's theme. For Tahj's TMNT celebration, our little guests loved our custom cupcake display! The “pizza” cupcakes were a hit, a few little ones even helped themselves to the desserts, when they returned to the table.
Party favors can also be displayed as table decor too. Favor/treat containers make great balloon weights. Place one at each table setting to create a festive table. Activity books, bubbles and other small items make really awesome party favors. Giving away trendy items like slime, or fidget spinners are also a good idea. For our event, all of the party guests received Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles capes and masks inside a custom pizza favor box. The kids were super excited to discover toys, instead of pizza.
Enjoy the event! One of the benefits of booking a party at Epic Air is that everything you need for a party is provided, including a host! Our party host, Keion, was amazing. He helped with serving our guests, cleanup and other special requests. I even spotted him playing with our Guest of Honor! After my setup was complete, I was free to join the party, AND I didn't have to clean up. Totally Awesome!!
